Leadership Style
First mover, forward thinking, restlessly curious, tenacious and decisive, he strikes a balance between confidence and humility. Structured, disciplined and rigorous in delivery; he is a well-judged, trusted and long-term partner, operating to the highest standards of integrity. He values expertise, experience, diverse perspectives, strong values, innovation, open dialogue, partnership and above all delivering excellent service.
Banking Experience
A mathematician by training Alex spent the first half of his time at Deutsche Bank in the Structured Credit business, initially in Business Finance building detailed knowledge of the front-to-back operations of the business from management and financial accounting, risk and pricing, transaction modelling, operations, secured and unsecured funding and trading controls. As the financial crisis began, he moved to the Structured Credit trading desk managing material risk positions, collateral valuation, business reorganisation, deal restructuring across a wide range of products including Credit Tenant Lease, Cross-Border Tax, Complex Derivatives, CLO, Minority interest and Structured Notes. Emerging from the crisis he focused on new structured lending to European mid-tier banks and corporates.
Leadership Experience
From 2014 he ran a series of large enterprise-wide transformation programmes including CRD4 De-Leveraging (2014-15), Liquidity Remediation (2016-17), LIBOR Transition (2020-23) and Non-Financial Risk Platform implementation (2022-24) and held a series of senior leadership roles including in Group Strategy (2016-17), Business Treasurer for Corporate and Investment Banking (2017-19), Global Head of Liquidity Management (2-19-20), Global Head of Regulations and Controls for Technology (2021-24) and Global Head of Controls for Infrastructure (2024). He has built and maintained excellent relationships with Board members, Regulators, Auditors, Industry Bodies and Clients across the globe.
Socially Conscious
As someone who has enjoyed fantastic opportunities, has had inspirational role models, worked with some of the smartest people alive and had some incredible professional experiences, Alex has always wanted to leverage his skills/resources for the benefit of others. He served on the Charity Selection Committee for ten years, he has raised six-figure sums charity, invested in social enterprises most notably in Neurodiversity Employment (designing and implementing an Autistic internship programme) and continues to invest time, advise and resources into his key charity partners. His philosophy is not so much "charity" but more "philanthropy in solidarity".
